A Greek School found at…home
Once upon a time, many years before anyone could even think of the word pandemic, two Greek friends educated in the field of education and technology started an online Greek School. Their dream was to make Greek accessible to all the Greeks of the world who wanted to be close to the Greek language and culture but did not have a Greek School near them. So, these two friends, Stella and Pavlos decided to found a Greek School located inside the homes of Greeks in every corner of the world.
Dreams come true
After a decade of hard work, after a lot of experimentation, after a lot of people who believed in this idea and a great many who thought that online learning was a joke that would never work, The Greek Online School is celebrating its 10th birthday in 2022. The greatest birthday gift is the proof of a dream that came true. The Greek Online School has more than 1500 students in every single continent of the planet. In its classrooms, apart from students of every age and level of Greek, one can find more than 50 native Greek educators who are all based in Greece and who love to teach Greek to little Greeks and adults in every corner of the world.
Educating… educators
One of the many reasons this team is proud of is because they have trained more than 2000 educators in the field of online education. This was during the time they ran their seminar called Online Teacher from 2013 to 2018 which greatly helped in the overnight shift to online education during the Covid crisis. In March 2020, when worldwide education turned online, the over 2000 Greek teachers who had completed The Greek Online School teaching seminars already knew how to teach online.
10th birthday party in Greece
The Greek Online School is more than a Greek School. It has somehow managed to become an online community of Greek learners who love to learn Greek together; who organize online events to celebrate Greek anniversaries or celebrate student successes. We are lucky to be an online community of Greeks who have online Christmas and summer parties together.
And as much as we love getting together online, nothing gives us more joy than spending time together in person at our School’s Greek Language Summer Camp for kids and the Immersion Course for Adults in Greece. Two language programs that take place every summer in Greece and are meant to immerse children and adults in the Greek lifestyle and make sure that they leave Greece speaking Greek fluently!
At our School, we love online learning, but we can’t wait to see our students in person and see them interact with other Greek students who are learning to love Greek together! Hopefully, this special School’s 10th birthday party will take place in Greece in summer 2022 among little Greek campers who will be finally experiencing Greek language and culture in the land of their grandparents once again!
