Evaluation, Certificates & Exams
Evaluation
Our evaluation methods have been designed to determine student strengths and weaknesses and influence the learning process. Assessment and evaluation of our students’ learning is directly connected to our courses’ learning objectives, which have been set according to the Common European Framework for Languages (CEFR). We use a large variety of formats for oral and written exercises which we combine to create a well-balanced test and keep students motivated. Multiple choice, multiple selection, short answer, essay writing, true or false, recorded responses, show your work and more are only some of the exercises we use along with videos and audios to make students’ assessment a constructive and fun part of the learning process.
Certificates
All our students are provided with our Academic Year’s Certificate, mentioning the level and all completed hours of their greek studies. The certificates are sent at the end of July along with a report presenting student’s total oral and written performance. The Certificates and the reports are sent in a PDF format and we send out hard copies if requested.
Exams
Students can take the Examination for the Certificate of Attainment in Greek, which is held once a year in mid-May. A certificate is issued for successful candidates at six levels: A1 (A1 for children 8 to 12 years old and A1 for adolescents and adults), A2, B1, B2, C1 and C2. The examination at levels A1, A2 and B1 covers four language skills: candidates are examined in Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. The skills examined at levels B2, C1 and C2, apart from the above mentioned, also include the use of language, which focuses on grammar (morphology and syntax) and vocabulary. The dates are common for all examination centers worldwide. For more information about the Ellinomatheia Exams and our preparation courses please visit our Ellinomatheia Exams page.
