There are only a few days left for the first Greek LoL students’ trip to Greece! We are looking forward to seeing our students putting their Greek into practice and to involve them in everything that Greece offers, our language, culture, history, its beautiful people and the wonderful greek summer. After all this time we will finally meet some of our students in person and share amazing moments together!
On the 22nd of July we are all meeting in Athens and then we are setting off! Our first stop will be the Acropolis museum. The museum was built to house every artifact found on the rock and on the surrounding slopes, from the Greek Bronze Age to Roman and Byzantine Greece. It opened to the public in 2009 while 4,000 objects are exhibited over an area of 14,000 square metres. From Athens we are driving to Aigio, to enjoy the sea and the sun. On the 25th of July we are visiting Delfi which was considered the centre of the world by the ancient Greeks. The following day will be dedicated to Ancient Olympia, where the Olympic Games were held every four years from the 8th century BC to the 4th century AD. From Aigio we will travel to Nafplion, with a stop-over at ancient Korinthos. Nafplio is a seaport town, which was the capital of the Kingdom of Greece, from the beginning of the Greek Revolution in 1821 until 1834. We will be staying in Nafplio for two days, not only to enjoy the beauty of the city but also to visit Mycenae. In ancient times, Mycenae flourished into a fortified city and was once ruled by the famous King Agamemnon. Our last day, Friday the 29th of July, we have made bookings for Sophocles’ Oedipus Tyrannus, at the famous theatre of Ancient Epidavros.
We are looking so much forward to this trip! We will keep you posted and share our experiences with you! Get ready for next year with more exciting activities!!!
