On May 29, we were delighted to host “Classroom Futures: AI Discussions & Ideas that Shape Learning” at Impact Hub Athens as part of the Panathēnea 2026 Official Side Events.
The event brought together educators, researchers, technology leaders, students, and education stakeholders to explore one of the most important questions facing schools today: How can Artificial Intelligence support meaningful learning while preserving the human essence of education?
Exploring the Future of Education
Throughout the event, participants engaged in thoughtful discussions about the opportunities and challenges AI presents in the classroom. By sharing experiences, insights, and concerns, attendees explored how emerging technologies can be integrated into education in ways that enhance—not replace—the role of teachers and human connection.
Key topics included personalized learning, critical thinking, creativity, digital literacy, and the skills students will need to thrive in a rapidly changing world.
Bringing Together Global Perspectives
The panel featured professionals and educators from across the technology and academic sectors, including representatives from Google DeepMind, AWS GenAI Innovation Centre, IE Business School, d-teach, ICONS, University of Patras / HLV University of East London, Athens College, Moraitis School and The Greek Online School.
The diversity of perspectives created a rich and engaging conversation about the future of learning and the evolving relationship between technology and education.
Students as Part of the Conversation
One of the highlights of the evening was a discussion between Sofia Zacharaki, Minister of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports, Stella Bompotsiari, Founder and CEO of The Greek Online School, and Athens College students Eleni and Spyros.
The students had the opportunity to share their views on the future of education, ask questions about the role of AI in learning, and discuss the skills they believe will be most valuable for future generations. Their participation served as an important reminder that conversations about educational innovation should always include the voices of students themselves.
